* the lyrics to this song come from miguel hernández, a spanish republican poet who was jailed for his anti-fascist ideas during the franco dictatorship. the words are a bittersweet love poem to his wife & baby, written from his incarceration. the video above combines serrat's version of the poem with archival filmed footage from 1930s spain.
