The acts verified by such authorities are invalid. The people have the right to resort to insurrection in defense of constitutional order."

yesterday the people of honduras awoke to find their democratically-elected president zelaya has been kidnapped at gunpoint by u.s.-trained military thugs, and a fake president direct from the honduran ruling class installed. inside honduras & in the exterior, hondureños are out in the streets condemning the coup and demanding the return of the exiled zelaya. in the capital they are defying the curfew, setting up barricades, and confronting the military with rocks & sticks. last night cnn even showed women throwing punches at soldiers as they ran past in formation. find the consulate nearest you and show some solidarity!!!! following is the info for a protest in sf called by the fmln (northern california) and others, as well as some communications in re: the golpe de estado...

this is a communication sent out last night by cindy from ggj:
Dear GGJ members,
This morning, June 28 the democratically elected left leaning President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya was kidnapped and ousted out of the country by the military. Roberto Micheletti, president of the congress was sworn in as President of Honduras. Micheletti is right wing and ruling class and immediately instituted a military state with a curfew from 9 pm to 5 am. Many of the social movement leaders are being targeted and orders for their arrest have been put out... these are some of the folks we met at the Americas Social Forum in Guatemala... the leader of the Via Campesina, Berta Cazares from the Feminist movement, indigenous leader from the COPINH, union leaders, etc. Also Salvadoran observers have been arrested. Right now there are thousands of people protesting at the presidential palace under a severe thunderstorm, defying the curfew to not allow Micheletti in. There are military checkpoints in all of Tegucigalpa and folks fear bloodshed. The people of Honduras are asking for immediate solidarity, by having actions at the Honduran Consulates internationally, and for us in the US to call President Obama and Sec. of State Clinton to demand the reinstatement of President Manuel Zelaya and demand the constitutionally legal Referendum, and to stop the military terror of the people and social movements in Honduras.

this is the text of the llamamiento urgente de los movimientos sociales del ALBA / urgent call of the social movements of the ALBA:
