solidaridad

oooh, ziad made my heart melt yesterday when, in conversation, he mentioned being taught about nicaragua & the sandinistas during his political training in palestine at the age of 14. back in nicaragua, the young sandinistas in political education class were at the very same moment, i'm sure, also studying palestine :)

in honor of nicaragua sandinista and the palestinian resistance...
hasta la victoria!!

las roqueras would like to wish you a happy international women's day! and dedicate songs...

from la cumbiambera:

Written in response to the Argentine economic crisis earlier this decade, this song is an homage to women who handle business. So to all of us women who are forces to be reckoned with, Rock-n-roll, sisters.

mujer maravilla : los enanitos verdes

from diabólica:

this song is about arlen siu, one of the first female sandinista martyrs in the fight against the somoza dictatorship in nicaragua. a student militant, cultural worker, and guerrillera, she died in combat in 1972 at 20 years of age. ¡presente!
